Dorothy Wang, MD

Dr. Dorothy Wang was born in Brooklyn, New York but raised in Redlands, California. She then relocated back to the East Coast and attended Harvard University where she majored in Chemistry and contemplated graduate studies. She earned two Howard Hughes Undergraduate Research Fellowships during this time. Upon graduating with honors, she then worked in a research laboratory at UCSF before applying to medical school.

Dr. Wang attended Cornell University Medical College in New York City, and found time to become an avid cyclist and president of the Outdoor Club. She also spent time doing basic science research in the field of head and neck cancer at Memoral Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute. She began her residency at UCLA in 2002, completing two years of General Surgery and four years of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery training. She has been involved in research regarding new treatments for head and neck cancer and has published in peer-reviewed journals. She has also presented this research at many scientific meetings.

In addition to her position with Pacific Specialists, Dr. Wang holds the position of Attending Surgeon at the Wadsworth and Sepulveda VA hospitals helping train UCLA residents and providing our veterans with top-quality medical care. She also has privileges at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center where she volunteers to provide medical and surgical care for the uninsured population of Los Angeles County.

Dr. Wang resides in Culver City with her husband, Dr. David Chen, also a surgeon at UCLA.
